Development of the Prep Guide

The Canadian Practical Nurse Examination Prep Guide was developed by Canada’s Testing Company. Over the years, Canada’s Testing Company has often been asked by educators and practical nursing students for advice on how to prepare for writing the CPNRE. We have also received suggestions in surveys from students who have recently written the CPNRE. All of this experience has been used as a basis for developing the Prep Guide. When developing the CPNRE Prep Guide, practical nursing educators and practical nurses from across the country contributed to the development of the nursing situations and test questions for the Practice Exam. These same practical nurses and nursing educators also developed the rationales for the correct answer and incorrect options, and identified two current references for each question. An editorial review board of practical nursing educators and practical nurses ensured that the questions and rationales were current and accurate.
